Was a shingler. Came out to Auckland 1842 on the ship 'Jane Gifford'. Auckland had very few permanent structures those days. Most immigrants lived in Raupo (Elephant grass/reeds) huts. Did he find much work as a shingler? What did he do? His grave is/was in Symonds street which was disturbed when first the Grafton Bridge was constructed, then again when motorways went through the area. Despite enquiries of Auckland City Council, grave has never been located.
