George Ramsay Campbell was born in 1800. He was the second son of Archibald Campbell Laird of Succoth.
In adult life he served in the Honourable East India Company Service. When neither of his nephews, sons of his elder brother John, died leaving a male heir, George's son Archibald succeeded to the Baronetcy of Succoth.
