Biography

Henry was born about 1824. He was the son of James Campbell. He passed away in 1901.

Henry Campbell, an old resident of Floyd, died at his home in the village of Floyd on Friday afternoon of bronchial pneumonia. He had been ill about a week. He was naturally of strong constitution and had usually been in good health. Mr. Campbell was born in England in 1826, and at the age of four years came with his parents to this country. They settled in Utica and later lived in Frankfort. In his younger days he was engaged on canal passenger packets between Utica, Syracuse and Oswego. Afterward he engaged in farming in Floyd during most of his life. In 1862 he was married to Mrs. Susan Vander- hoof, who died i n 1877. In 1883 he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Raymer of Whitestown, who died in 1895. He had no children of his own, but three stepdaughters and one step-son survive, Mrs. Catherine Campbell of Rome, Mrs. Mary E. Cooper of Whitestown, Thomas J. Vanderhoof of Floyd, and Miss Minnie J. Raymer of Utica; also one brother, Joseph Campbell and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Vanderhoof, both of Floyd.
