Biography

Colin was the son of John Cambell.^[1]

He married Matilda Montgomerie, daughter of Hugh Montgomerie, 2nd Lord of Montgomerie, 1st Earl Eglintoun and Helen Campbell.^[1][2] They had issue:

1. Marion^[3][4]
2. John^[3]

Colin died before 13 Jul 1566.^[3]

• He witnessed a charter on 30 Jul 1511^[1] placing his birth prior to 30 Jul 1497.

• Colin married Matilda but it is not known if she was mother of his children other than Marion. He was definitely father of Mary and presumably also of the next laird of Ardkinglas who (although there could be a generation missing) is thought to have b...

• IGI says he died spm after 3 wives and sheds no light on who might be father of next laird. However a submission by the LDS Medieval Families Unit shows James the next laird of Ardkinglass as son of his brother Dougall.^{[citation needed]}
