Louis Campeau est né à Sandwich, Essex, Ontario le 3 Sept 1820. ll était le fils de Jean Campeau et Thérèsa Rivard.

Le 22 Jul 1851 à la paroisse de l'Assomption, Sandwich, il épousait Catherine Parent qui lui donna les enfants suivants:
