Clarice C. Owens, 77

CLINTON - Mrs. Clarice Cannady Owens, 77, of 266 Mt. Moriah Church Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, in Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 23, at Owen Grove Church with the Rev. Kim Strickland, the Rev. Curtiss Tatum and pastor Robbie Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Owens, a native of Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Emerson Cannady and Matilda Williams Cannady and the widow of William McKinley Owens.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters: Flossie Cannady Voncannon, Joyce Cannady West, Lossie Cannady Chestnutt, and Christine Cannady Hall; and seven brothers; Anson Cannady, Sanford Cannady, Arthur Cannady, Sam Cannady, Robert Cannady, Cecil Cannady and Roger Cannady.

She was a homemaker and a member of Owen Grove Church, where she was one of the original members of the Ladies Home Missionary Auxiliary organized March 1, 1949 and served as vice-president. She was also a member of the Ladies Bible Class.

Surviving Mrs. Owens is a brother, Lonnie Cannady of Clinton; and three sisters, Lula Cannady Pope of Clinton, Elizabeth Cannady Allred and Loanie Cannady Cole, both of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Feb. 22, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 188 Fayetteville Street, Clinton, and at other times at the home. Condolences may be e-mailed to chfh@intrstar.net ATTN: C. Owens Family arrangements by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.[1]
