Descendant of William Cantrell, the first Cantrell in North America. William arrived from England with Captain John Smith in Jamestown, Virginia on April 20, 1607

Biography

Mary Cantrell, daughter of Richard Cantrell and Constance Bethel, was born in July 1799 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. She passed away in January 1863 in DeKalb County, Tennessee and is buried in Martin Cemetery, DeKalb County.[1]

Mary married Perry G. Magness in early 1815 in Warren County, Tennessee.[2] Known children include:

Perry and wife, Mary, traveled to Indiana briefly with her parents about 1816. Daughter Harriet was born there in 1817. By 1819 they had returned to Warren County, Tennessee.
