OBITUARY - CARON, Lucile January 25, 1936 - October 25, 2020

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Lucile Caron. Born in Pain Court, Ontario, she was the middle child of Alexina and Alcide Caron's five daughters: Dr. Marie-Therese Caron (d.), Aline Bondy (Ernest, d); Louise Olsen (Jack), and Dr. Anne-Marie Caron-Reaume (Mary Lou Soutar-Hynes).

She was the beloved aunt of her many nephews and nieces to whom she was very much attached: Jean-Paul (Jay) Bondy, Marc Bondy (Mary), Michel (Mitch) Bondy (Suzanne Schwenger), Louis Bondy, Denise Meloche (Chris), Bernard (Ben) Bondy, Rosaire Bondy (Tammy), Cathy Crowley (Kevin), Susan (Suzie) Olsen, and Chantal Reaume. Lucile always maintained connections with them, whether they were close to home in Windsor/the surrounding area, or farther afield. Always loyal and concerned about fairness and justice, she was also a person who loved to play games and always had new ones to suggest.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Lucile attended the local elementary and secondary bilingual schools in the hamlet of Pain Court. Her interest in French-Language and Culture and a greater opening to understanding the world were furthered as she left for Ottawa where she pursued university education at Collège Bruyère/university of Ottawa and obtained her teacher qualifications. Her desire to be of service inspired Lucile to join the Montreal Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, a community devoted to furthering education, which she left in 1968. Lucile's professional life centered on serving the educational community in Windsor first as an elementary school teacher and administrator and then as secondary school teacher and department head. As a French teacher she organized many yearly trips to France so her students could take part in exchange programs so as to better develop fluency in their second language. While teaching at Assumption Secondary School, she developed a passion for coaching Reach for the Top Teams and for golf, interests which carried into her retirement years.

She also loved skiing, and as a young teacher, organized many ski trips to northern Michigan with colleagues and family members. She even flew to Switzerland to ski in Zermatt while admiring the majesty of the Matterhorn. During her retirement years, Lucile enjoyed travelling the world with her companion Merv Eisen, as well as enjoying music and the arts. A member of the Kingsville Golf Club, she was able to hone her skills and enjoyed competing. Bridge also become an avocation which added to the pleasures of daily life.

Lucile maintained long lasting friendships dating back to her professional life, savouring both those and the new ones that formed in the last years of her life. She will be sorely missed by her many friends

Since 2019, Lucile resided at Amica, moving to the Assisted Living Section where she had access to regular support, due to her encroaching illness. The family wishes to thank Alexis, her primary caregiver from Amy's Helping Hands for the unqualified support and friendship she provided to Lucile during this difficult period of her life.
