- John was born about 1628; married probably Hannah (Hope); died May 23 1695.

John's will date November 10, 1694 names his wife Hannah; sons: John, Hope, Samuel and William; daughter Solomon; a grandson; and two granddaughters Abigail and Hannah.

#16 Samuel Carpenter (born about 1666) names his 5 children

- Samuel was born about 1695; m. Patience. His will was proven November 1752. The following is an abstract of his will -

"Samuel Carpenter of Goshen, wife Patience; sons Samuel, William, Abraham, John, Joshua and Richard. Daughters Abigail and Martha. Children not of age."

# 52 Samuel Carpenter born 1695 lists his 9 children

- Samuel was born about 1745; moved to Goshen, NY. Called Deacon Samuel Carpenter; m Betsey Allison and lived on a farm about a mile from Goshen, NY. He volunteered at the battle of Minisink and was appointed Captain to guard the women and children at the Goshen Court House; hence was not in that disastrous battle. He died at Florida, NY when on a visit to his son Daniel, about 1800.

• U.S., Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970: No. 7099, 12 May 1897, William Lewis Carpenter, son of William Lewis Carpenter and Frances Bristol, grandson of William Allison Carpenter and Elizabeth Edsall, great grandson of Samuel Carpenter, Jr. and Elizabeth Allison, 2nd great grandson of Samuel, SAR Patriot #P-12901 (DAR Patriot #A019518) and Patience Carpenter, and 3rd great grandson of Samuel Carpenter, and 4th great grandson of John Carpenter and Hannah Hope.^[1] This application^[2] clearly shows this Samuel's lineage, but other associated appliacants (George Anthony Miller (188414) and Merlin Jonathan Miller (198629)) show a completely different lineage.
