Further research reveals that this individual did die in 1853. He had a son named Fielding Carpenter born and died in 1864. This Fielding Carpenter shown here could not have been the spouse of Merryman Carpenter nor could he have been the father of Susan Carpenter born in 1857 as her birth record states.
