Captain Nehemiah Carpenter, born 20 October 1731 in Attleborough, Massachusetts died 14 May 1799 in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and his wives Elizabeth Sweet and Sarah Hartshorn, are honored for serving Massachusetts by the Daughters of the American Revolution:
1) ALSO SGT, 1ST LT; CAPTS ISRAEL SMITH, JOSIAH PRATT, SAMUEL FISHER;
2) COLS GILL, JONATHAN TITCOMB; MILITIA. Their son Peter Carpenter married Esther Belcher of Foxborough, Ma.[2]

Deacon Nehemiah Carpenter, husband to Elizabeth Sweet, died 14 May 1799, at age 78 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The record notes that his previous wife was Sarah Hartshorn. He was the Foxborough's first settler, dating to 1750.[7]
