William R Carr was born about 1826 in Jefferson County, Ohio, United States.

He was a farmer who enlisted in the Union Army in Marietta, Ohio on 23 Aug 1864.

He married Rebecca Unknown before he enlisted. She applied for a widow's pension on 21 Mar 1893.[1]

William died of chronic diarrhea on 18 Jun 1865 in New Bern, Craven, North Carolina, United States, aged 38. He is buried in New Bern National Cemetery, New Bern, North Carolina. He was single at the time of his death.[2] [3] [4]
