Biography

James Carroll was born about 1750 in London, Middlesex, England ^[1].

He married Mary Randall, when aged about 31, on 2 December 1782 (to about 1787) in London, Middlesex. England^[2]. It isn't known if James and Mary had children but it is possible as they were married for nearly four years when Mary was arrested on 29 September 1886.

Mary was convicted of larceny and sentenced to be transported for seven years to Australia. She left England in January 1787 on the "Lady Penrhyn" as part of the First Fleet and did not return to England.

James would not have known it, but Mary married John Nichols on 24 March 1788, who was also transported on the First Fleet, soon after their arrival in Australia.

James died sometime after 1787, possibly in London, Middlesex, England, having never seen his wife again ^[3].
