Jean S. Kean
Jean "Josie" Kean, 86, passed away on March 26, 2010, in Thousand Oaks, CA where she was living with her daughter, Christine Paterson. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, next to her late husband Thomas Kean, former State Assemblyman from Washoe County. She was born Jean Shirley Kabisius November 14, 1923 to Madge and Lester Kabisius in Los Angeles, CA, graduated high school from Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Canada, CA, attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. At the start of WWII she married the late Jack Josse of Roseburg, OR. She later married Jack Carter of Reno, NV. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, school teacher, member of Eastern Star, weaver and interior designer, who contributed to the decorations of Nevada's Governor's mansion for the then Governor Paul Laxalt.
Donations are requested to be sent to the St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD in lieu of flowers. Her warm smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed. Jean is survived by her sons Peter and Kim Josse and daughter Christine Paterson, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
