Obit--Weakened by a long illness from the effects of an injury he suffered in a sand bank cave in a year or so ago. J.C. Carver, familiar character and hard-working citizen of our city, died last Friday. Everything possible was done for his relief, including two surgical operations, but to no avail. Funeral services were held in the local Methodist church Sunday, the Odd Fellows lodge having charge of the body and Rev. Meredith delivering the sermon. Burial was in Fairview cemetery. Jerl C. Carver was born in New Sharon, Iowa September 30, 1860 and died in Smith Center, Kansas October 23, 1925 at the age of 65 years and 23 days. He was united in marriage to Ada Knox in 1888, and they moved to this city from Logan thirteen years ago. Mr. Carver was an honest industrious citizen and had the entire respect and confidence of all the classes of people. His wife and the following children survive: Jasper of Otego; Roy, Alfred, Sam and Mesdames Lavina Hawkins and Zola Ellis of this place. We wish to thank those who so unselfishly helped us during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father. Mrs. Jerl Carver and children.
