Lord of Petty and Bothwell

This category is retained, although it is incorrect. There are two titles expressed in this category; that of Lord of Bothwell and Lord of Petty.

The titles originated around 1250 when William De Moravia, second son to William de Moravia, 1st Earl of Sutherland, became Chief of the Murrays and Lord of Petty in Moray, and then through an Oliphant heiress became Lord of Bothwell in Clydesdale before 1253.
