Regional government arrived at the end of 1973. The name of the local county was changed from Ontario to Durham. Scott Township, Uxbridge Township and the town of Uxbridge became one municipality called Uxbridge Township. Communities within the township include Uxbridge, Coppins Corners, Goodwood, Leaskdale, Sandford, Siloam, Victoria's Corner, and Zephyr.
