"The date that Gregory Caudle came to Randolph count is not known now. He and family settled east of New Palestine on the SW quarter of Section 18 in Township 6-6, on what was later known as the George Harmon home and later as the late Lacy Harmon home. They settled about the time the Livelys settled here.
Gregory Caudle settled on government land and never owned it. He died in January 1815. His wife Catherine Caudle administered on his estate, February 3, 1815. She entered their home, the sw quarter of Section 18 Township 6-6 containing 157,93 acres in 1817. Catherine Caudle (spelled in the deed Codle) and her daughter Mary, and son, Gregory Caudle Jr. deeded to her son, Sampson Anderson Caudle all the above farm, September 5, 1818 consideration of $320.
Catherine Caudle died in July 1823. Her son, Sampson Anderson Caudle administered on her estate Aug 4 1823. Gregory Caudle, his wife and some small children were buried on the north side of their farm. No gravestones mark their graves." ~Long line of descendants of Gregory Caudle, Pioneer, by J.B.
