Biography
Carpenter was born Feb. 27, 1774, in Ashford, Connecticut. He was the son of Josiah Chaffee and Elizabeth Dimmock.[1]
He passed away in 1843. [2]
Note in "The Chaffee Genealogy (1909) the author spells his name CHAFFE BUT his gravestone is engraved with the name CHAFFEE.
