Biography
GREEN DAVID CHAIRES was born in 1816, the third child of Benjamin and Sarah Jane Powell Chaires. His father was the largest plantation owner in Leon Co., Fl., with over 9,000 acres. Green grew up at the plantation home "Verdura" that was built by his father.
Green David Chaires married Ann Maria Parkhill 22 Jan. 1840 in Tallahassee, Leon Co., FL. When they were married, their fathers were the largest and wealthiest landowners in North Florida, owning many slaves.[1]
In the 1860 census Green (age 43) was in NoTownship Stated, Leon, Florida, United States.[2]
