Matthew Chalder was born in about 1811 in Arkengarthdale, Yorkshire, England.[1]
When Matthew was about 26 he married Mary Bolam on 3 April 1837 in St. Peter's church, Bywell, Northumberland. [2]
In 1851 Matthew (age about 40) was living in Conside and Knitsley, Durham.[1]
In 1861 Matthew (age about 50) was living in Conside and Knitsley.[3]
