Biography

Stephen Chalker was born July 19, 1707 at Saybrook, Connecticut to Stephen Chalker and his wife Elizabeth (Chapman) Chalker.^[1]

He married (1st) on December 4, 1727 to Mehitable Chapman, the daughter of Samuel Chapman. His 2nd and 3rd wives are unknown. He married (4th) on November 5, 1753 to Sarah (Denison) Babcock.^[2]She was the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Lay) (Miner) Dennison and was born on January 6, 1710 at Stonington, Connecticut and raised at Saybrook, Connecticut; the widow of Rev. Hezekiah Marther, August 11, 1730 and William Babcock by whom she had nine children.^[3]

1. Mehitable Chalker who married her cousin Josiah Hull, son of Joseph and Sybil (Coe) Hull and brother of Elizabeth (Hull) Chapman.^[3]

Stephen's will was dated July 13, 1780 and proved on November 18, 1783. He died in Saybrook October 25, 1783.
