John Chamberlain served in the Patriotic Service and as a Private during the American Revolution. The DAR reports he served under Capts. Partridge and Thomas Sampson (Plymouth County Militia) as well as Cols. Hawes and Theophilus Cotton. The record also states he hired a substitute.[1]
Son of Phillips and Mehetable (Scott) Chamberlain.
In 1780, John received a distribution of real estate that had been set out to his aunt Elizabeth Scott, widow of his grandfather, Joseph Scott of Boston, dec'd, including a share of his mother, Mehitable Hall, widow, and his uncle Daniel Scott of Boston, dec'd.[2]
