Biography

Said to be buried at Taylors Bayou near Labelle, next to her first husband.

Her son Raymond's death cert gives her name as Sofia Elvira Chase, and her POB as MS.

In the 1870 census she is "keeping house," with her eldest son Walter, and children Harvey, Charles, Raymond, and Elvira in Taylor's Bayou.

She married a second time (to a Morgan Odom, a widower).

27 MAR 1871. Jefferson Co., TX. Note: Marriage date supplied by June Landry Vining, with confirmation on family search, which quotes "local marriage records." The 1880 census shows Morgan Odom living as a widower, age 63, in a family whose name is Holst, so he was widowed a second time.
