The current best information regarding Jane's birth is that she could be the daughter of James CHEYNE and Christian DUNCAN, chr. 1806-03-22 in Fyvie. Previous genealogies have sometimes identified her as the daughter of William CHEYNE and Mary FORSYTHE, chr. 1799 in Auchterless, Aberdeeenshire, but this has been refuted.[3]
