Biography

Janet, daughter of Sinclair Cheyne & Barbara Garrack, was born on 13 May 1826 and baptised on 4 June 1826 in Dunrossness, Shetland, Scotland.^[1]

In the 1851 census Janet (age 23), Hoyte Lewant, was the visitor of John Shewan in St Niniañs Close No 9, Leith, Leith North, Midlothian.^[2]

In the 1861 census Janet (age 34), Fisherman's Daur, was the daughter of Sinclair Cheyne at 6 Lo. Exnoboe, Dunrossness, Shetland.^[3]

Janet's death (age 40) was registered in 1870 in the Dunrossness district.^[4]

Research Notes

Back in Shetland with parents in 1861 so removed the death date of 1851 in Edinburgh- found her death there in 1870
