Robert Cheyne was son of John Cheney ^[1] and his wife, Margaret Ingleton. ^[2][3]

1541-2 Robert was Lord of the Manors of Grove Drayton in Buckinghamshire and Cugenho in Northamptonshire.

Robert married Elizabeth Webbe, daughter of John Webbe of Hertfordshire, gentleman usher to Edward IV, ^[2] widow of Fulk Wodhull. Their children were John, Margaret, Katherine and Elizabeth.^[2][3]

After Elizabeth's death Robert married Mary Sylam, daughter of John Sylam of Bedfordshire.^{[2] [3]}They were the parents of Thomas and Mary. ^[2][3]

Robert died in 1552 ^[1] on the 9th of December and was buried at St Leonard's Chesham Bois. ^[4]
