The following is a transcription from the Register of sessions Parish of Rathen 1770 - 1800 10 February 1793
'Sef's met Comp'o Ch'n henderson, an unmarried woman, and laid a Child to the charge of Wm Cheyne, an unmarried man,who having Comp'd, owned the Charge and both were reproved and dismissed. Penalty from Wm. Cheyne 9s.'1. He was the son of William Cheyne and Christian Henderson.
He was christened in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland on 9 June 1793 at rathen Parish Aberdeen Scotland.

9th June(1793.) Wm. Cheyne in Quarryhead had a son procreated in fornication with Christian Henderson, baptised named Alexander.
