Edith (Childs) Taylor was born in Cudworth, Yorkshire, England.

Edith was born in Cudworth, Yorkshire, England, in 1876. Her birth was registered in the third quarter in Barnsley. She was the daughter of John Childs and Mary Darby. She was enumerated in the 1881 census as a four year old residing with her parents and six siblings in Cudworth. Her father's occupation "Coal Miner". She appeared in the 1891 census as a servant in the household of Edward and Annie Green, Butchers Arms Public House, Cudworth. She was fourteen and "Domestic Servant Nurse".

Edith married Edward Ernest Taylor on August 31, 1896, at St Mary and All Saints, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The Parish Register listed Edith as a twenty year old spinster residing on Dixon's Road, Landsmill Street. Her father was named as John Childs "Miner". Edward was a twenty year old bachelor and "Tanner" residing on Dixon's Road, Landsmill Street. His father was named as Edward Taylor "Tanner". The couple would have at least six children. (Note...in the 1911 census, it was declared six children were born, but one had died).

Edith and Edward appeared in the 1901 census residing at 23 Spa Lane, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Edward was now a "Coal Miner (Hewer)" They were living at 17 Spa Lane, Chesterfield, in 1911. Five children at residence ages nine years to ten months old. All born in Chesterfield. (Note...Edith had at least two more children post 1911).

Edith and son Charles W. appeared in the 1939 Register residing at 45 Eyre Street, Chesterfield. Her marital status Widow, and occupation "Unpaid Domestic Duties".

Edith passed away in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, in 1958.
