Harriet was born in 1835. She was the daughter of Stephen Manlove Chipman and Martha Chipman. She passed away in 1866.
Find A Grave: Harriet Jane Chipman was born in Guilford County, North Carolina. She was the eldest child of Stephen Manlove Chipman, direct descendant of Elder John Chipman and Hope (Howland). Hope Howland Chipman was the daughter of Mayflower passengers, John Howland and Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland. Harriet moved to Independence County, AR with her widowed mother, Martha Gray Chipman and her three younger siblings about 1854. Her maternal uncles, John Gray and Andrew Gray had already removed to Independence County, AR. It is believed that she and her mom are buried in Haddock Cemetery.
