Biography

William was born in 1748. He was the son of David Christopher. He passed away in 1820.[1] Email from Jimmy Christopher I am the son of Lewis Frank Christopher. My line of descent is:

Nicholas David William (moves to Ga) Richard William Franklin Emmett Lewis Frank Me

The Henry Thomas kind of threw me. Then I realized that he is the son of my great uncle Grady. Henry Thomas was called Johnny; he never married and had no children; he died in 1963.

Franklin Christopher had three sons, Grady, Emmett, and Inus. Grady had only one son, Henry Thomas; Grady has no descendants with the Christopher surname. Emmett had only one son, Frank, and one grandson; since I have no children, Emmett has no descendants with the Christopher surname. Inus had two sons, Judson and Jesse. Inus was 49 years old when the younger son Jesse was born. The older son, Judson, has no male descendants. Jesse has only one son, John. John is in his mid thirties, and I think he has two young sons. So all people named Christopher who descend from Franklin will be from his son Inus.

Going back one more generation. William also had three sons. This was quite an interesting set of children. William had only three children, all boys, and all to the same wife. The oldest Franklin was born in 1853; the second was Clifford born in 1873, and the third was Emmett born in 1878. So my great grandfather, Franklin, was twenty years older than the next child and twenty five years older than the youngest child. Clifford had only one child, a daughter. Clifford lived to be quite old; he died in 1960 at age 87. I knew him well. Emmett had two children, a boy and a girl; they grew up in Atlanta. I do not know any of their decendents.

Back one more generation to Richard. Richard had a number of sons; William, David, Richard, John, and Burell. John and Burell (commanded the Oglethorpe Rifles at the surrender at Appomattox) both were married but neither had children. David (killed in battle in the Civil War) had two sons; however, I do not think he had any grandchildren by either son. Richard’s son Richard moved to LaGrange Georgia; I do not know who his descends are; however, I would like to research his family because of his wife’s maiden name. He was married to Margaret Johnson. The Christophers lived at Maxeys, Ga. in Oglethorpe County, Ga. I think but I am not positive that Margaret Johnson Christopher was from Oglethorpe County. The Johnsons and Christophers lived close to each other in Oglethorpe County. President Lydon Johnson was from this Oglethorpe County family; it would be interesting to learn if Margaret Johnson Christopher was related.

I will check on the DNA test because it will be interesting to learn if I can find any ancestor prior to Nicholas.
