John Frank Cichy

DENNIS, MA -- John Frank Cichy of Dennis, MA, 71 years, passed away November 17th of complications from a long-term illness. Loving husband, travelling-companion, and source of strength to wife Carol together they shared 48 years of good days, building a union they treasured.

He also leaves behind son Jim Cichy and his wife Wendy and daughter Joann Delaney and her husband Jack. John was much loved by his grandchildren Molly, Nicholas and Justin Cichy and Pvt. Scott Delaney and his brother Jake. He will be missed by brothers Bob and his wife Betty and Mike and his wife Maribeth, and maternal uncle Bob Boisseau. He loved his nephews, Andrew Cichy, David Cichy and his wife Amanda. He was predeceased by his mother Caroline and father Frank Cichy.

John was raised in Ayer, MA and became an Eagle Scout, and served his country in the US Army Reserve; he began his career in 1958 as a stock boy at the Rex Co. in Acton MA, and advanced in various roles to Vice President of the Brand-Rex Co. He founded Cichy & Cichy Sales in 1988 with his son, finally retiring in 2006 in Dennis, MA.

He was active in the community through volunteer work, tutoring and acts of kindness to his friends and neighbors, and leaves a legacy of friendship and service to us all. John was an avid golfer, do-it-yourselfer, and gardener. He was always happy to lend a hand when asked. Rest In Peace.

CICHY -- The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary Barnstable Branch, designated to the new Mammography Suite, c/o Barbara Curley, 27 Lancaster Way, W. Barnstable, MA. 02668.

There will be a reflection gathering at the Piccolino Restaurant, on Mill St. in Shirley on Saturday, November 26 at 1pm. The family asks all friends to join and share memories and stories, and celebrate a life well lived.
