Biography

Jim was born in Tennessee in 1859. He was the eldest son of Robert Clack and Mary Chatten.[1]

  • James Spencer Clack was the son of Robert Newton Clack and Mary Chattin Clack. His first wife was Ida Pettit. They were married in 1888. She died in 1905. James married Juliette Bean "Julia" Hinds in 1907. James and Julia had no children of their own, but raised Kate Hinds, who was the daughter of Julia's brother William Rudy Hinds and his first wife, Fannie Dineley.
  • James taught school in Tulare County for three years before returning to his native TN where he graduated from law school in 1884. He returned to CA and was justice of the peace in Tulare Co at the time of his marriage to Julia. He later became the Visalia police judge.

The Robert Clack family moved to California about 1875 where James spent most of his life.[2][3]

He married first Ida Pettit[4], and after her death in 1905, Julia Hinds in 1907.[5]

Jim was a lawyer, justice of the peace and Visallia chief of police.
