Biography

When Jonathan Clark was born on January 27, 1741, in Northampton, Massachusetts, his father, Jonathan Clark, was 27 and his mother, Submit Searle, was 24. [1]
On 30 Sep 1769, Jonathan married Sarah (Strong) Clarke at Southampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts.[2]
They had two children during their marriage.

  1. Celia (Clark) Crapo, born 1763
  2. Jonathan Clark III, born 1774

American Revolution
On 22 Nov 1775, Jonathan, age 34, repeated his oath of allegiance to the Army of Massachusetts.[3]
Jonathan, age 35, Enlisted Feb 20 1776 into the Massachusetts Foot Regiment commanded by Col Elisha Porter, Esq.[4]
In 1778, a listing of clothing issued to the men of Jonathan's Company in the 7th Regiment of the Massachusetts Army commanded by Lt. Colonel John Brooks[5]
On 9 Apr 1778, Jonathan, age 37, was a Private in David Webster's Company.[6]
On 20 May 1782, Jonathan, age 41, was a Private in the Massachusetts 3rd Regiment. [7]
On July 1782, Jonathan, age 41, was a Private in the Massachusetts 3rd Regiment. [8]
Jonathan died on February 4, 1804, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 63, and was buried in Center Cemetery, Westhampton, Massachusetts.[9]
