Francis Augustus was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, in 1899, the son of William and Ellen (McGrath) Clark.[1] He grew up in Somerville, the only child of his parents.[2]
He enrolled in the Naval Reserve Force on August 2, 1918, and was assigned to Naval Training Camp in Hingham, Massachusetts. In November he was transferred to the Naval Radio School in Cambridge.[3] He died of pneumonia at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was 21 years old.[4] He is buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, Massachusetts.[5]
