Biography

1803 Birth: Elizabeth was born in about September 1803. She is the daughter of Ralph Clark and Hannah (Clarkson) Clark (abt.1778-1864) and was christened on the 3 October 1803 in Hull, East Yorkshire. [5]

1841 Census: At the time of the census, Elizabeth (Eliza) 30 is living with her family at 25 Osbourne Street, Holy Trinity, Hull. Her father Ralph was 65 and a Timber Dealer and Hannah her mother was 60 and their other children William Henry 29, Margaret 27, and Charles Richard 25 who would have been all part of the timber business. Also living with the family is her niece Eliza James who was 7. ^[1]

1845 Death of Father: Her father Ralph Clark (abt.1773-abt.1845) died in the July quarter of 1845.

1850 Marriage: Elizabeth married William Taylor on the 23 December 1850 at Holy Trinity Church, Hull, Yorkshire, England. Elizabeth was 47 and William 46. Had William’s mother died? Was there a connection between the families. ^[2]

After their marriage Elizabeth and William moved to Market Rasen, birth place of husband. William had been living in Market Rasen at the time of the 1841 census with his mother a brazier and his sister. ( how did they meet)

1851 Census: In 1851, Elizabeth 45 (actually 47) and William 46 are living on George Street, Market Rasen. William is an ironmonger. ^[3]

1861 Census: In 1861 Elizabeth 55 and William 56 an ironmonger are still living on George Street, Market Rasen. ^[4]

1864 Death of mother: Her mother Hannah (Clarkson) Clark (abt.1778-1864) died on the 10 January 1864 in Hull, East Yorkshire.

1871 Census: In 1871, Elizabeth 65 and William 66 an ironmonger are living at 3 George Street, Market Rasen. Also living with them is Elizabeth niece Eliza James (abt.1834-) who would have been 37 and unmarried. ^[5]

Death of Husband: Her husband William died before the 1881 when it shows Elizabeth was a widow. She then returned to Hull from Market Rasen to live with her brother and sister at 3 Finsbury Grove.

1881 Death of Brother: On the 24 February 1881 her brother Joseph Oliver Clark (abt.1815-abt.1881) died aged 65 at 3 Finsbury Grove.

1881 Census: In 1881, Elizabeth is living with her sister Margaret Margaret Clark (abt.1806-abt.1881). Elizabeth is 77 and a widow and Margaret 74 and a widow too and the are living at 3 Finsbury Grove, West Sculcoates. They have a servant Emma Harrison 33. ^{[6] [7]}

1881 Death of Sister: On the 13 May 1881 her sister Margaret (Clark) Blyth (abt.1806-1881) died at 3 Finsbury Grove, less than 3 months later at the age of 74.

1885 Death: Elizabeth died in April 1885 at the age of 81 in Hull, East Yorkshire. ^[8]
