Referenced as Thomas III as some believe that Thomas I arrived from Ireland around 1642 in Maryland/Virginia Colony with his son Thomas II who would have been about 12 years old. Thomas II being Thomas III and William's father. Thomas II may have traveled back to England and arrived back to Virginia in 1653, marrying Judith Layton by 1660.
There is another theory of Thomas arriving in 1642 then traveled back to England returning to Virginia in 1653.
We do know that a Thomas Clary did settle in Surry County Virginia, married Judith Layton, and had at least 5 children, John, Thomas (III), William, Annie R, and Judith.
No mention of a wife or children in Thomas (III) will. However, he mentions his niece Judith m. to Robert Lancaster, Jr (daughter of brother William), his brother William, sister Ann(Pitt), and nephew Edward Brown. Source below
Also, in Clary Genealogy: Four Early American LInes and Related Families, source below, there are several references to Thomas Clary married to Judith, sons Thomas and William. Surry VA Picture as document.
