Elizabeth was born about 1834. She is the daughter of Issac Clawson and Abigail Neal.
On 29 July 1850, the 1850 U.S. Census recorded 16-year-old Elisabeth in her parents' household in Lodi, Seneca, County, New York. Tne census record listed farmer Isaac A Clauson, 48; Abigail Clauson, 43; Elisabeth Clauson, 16; Ira Clauson, 14; Charles D Clauson, 12; William F. Clauson, 9; Silas H. Clauson, 5; and Barney Clauson, one month. All were born in New York. Isaac reported having $5000 in real estate.[1]
The 1860 U.S. Census recorded 58-year-old farmer Isaac Clauson and 56-year-old Abigal Clauson in the Town of Lodi, Seneca County, New York,. The other members of the household were Elisabeth Clauson, 25; Charles D Clauson, 22; Firman F. Clauson, 19; Silas H. Clauson, 16; Barnabas Clauson, 10; and Benj Clauson, 8. Isaac, Abigal, and Elisabeth were born in Schuyler County (New York), and the younger children were all born in Seneca County. Charles D Clauson was identified as a student; there is no indication of occupation for the younger family members, but it's possible that they also were in school. [2]
