Biography

Fanny Clay was born in Ellesmere, Shropshire in 1842, the daughter of John Clay and Emma Clay [1]

At the time of the 1851 census, the Clay family were living in Cross Street, Ellesmere, where John was employed as a butcher:

Fanny was apprenticed to a milliner, who lived in Oswestry, Shropshire, and was learning her trade at the time of the 1861 census:

The marriage between Fanny Clay and Henry Kynaston took place in 1866 in the West Derby district of Liverpool [5]

Henry was a railway engine driver, and his work took him to live in Hereford, where they were living when the 1871 census was taken:
