Joe Clay was born in 1889 in Bell, Texas, United States, son of Francis Marion Clay (~1843–1902) and Emelline Ruth Ellen Wolfe (1848–1939).
Joe died on March 25, 1893, in Bell, Texas. Joe and his brother Marion were playing along the Leon River. They were both suffocated when a bank collapsed burying them under about four feet of soil.
He is buried in Taylors Valley Cemetery, Temple, Bell, Texas. [1]
