Biography

Mary was born in 1878. She was the daughter of Caleb Clayton and Ann Shropshire. She passed away in 1965. She married Laughlin McQuarrie in 1908. They had four children.

The following is her obituary taken from the Osprey News. "Schrigley has lost one of its oldest and highly esteemed ladies early Sunday morning, May 25th 1965, when Mrs. Laughlin McQuarrie passed away at her home. Although the deceased has been in failing health for some years shr had not been bedfast, and had been up the previous day for her meals. Mrs. McQuarrie, the former Mary Clayton, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Clayton, spent her entire married life in Schrigley community on the same farm to which she came as a bride on August 20, 1908. She was born Sept. 07, 1877 on the South Line, Osprey, Township on the farm that Mrs. Caleb Jr. resides. Those left to mourn are two sons, two daughters, and also 10 grandchildren. Mrs. McQuarrie was left with a very young family to raise, as her husband Locklan died in 1919 at the age of 41. Interment was in the family plot in Osprey."
