Biography

Warren was born about 1809. He is the son of Charles Clayton and Nancy Toney. Farmer.

Warren Clayton was born in Pendleton District, South Carolina. The headstone for him at the gravesite shows he was born in 1813, it's more likely he was born in 1807, and the headstone is wrong. (See census records for ages.)
Warren Clayton married 1st to Mary Ann "Polly" Ratliff on 12 Nov 1826 in Jefferson County, Alabama. The death date and location of Polly is unknown, although it's assumed she died c.1860 in Itawamba County, Mississippi (present-day Lee County).
Warren Clayton and Polly had 10 children together:

  2. - Joshua Swepson Clayton
  3. - Rhoda (Clayton) Harper (born c.1833, death unknown)
  4. - George Washington Clayton
  5. - Nancy (Clayton) Terry (born 1836, death unknown)

Warren Clayton married 2nd to Milly Ann Wall on 05 Sept 1861 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. They had one child together:
Edward W. Clayton (born May 1870, died 16 Aug 1932).
Warren, Milly Ann, and their son Edward appear on the 1870 Census in Kaufman County, Texas.
