Thomas was born about 1767. He passed away in 1834.
On page 351, the children of John Willis Clayton, who married Mary, are listed. That list includes "Thomas Clayton; married 1803, Theodocia Wright", as the fourth child.
On page 352 there is a note from "Clayton Deeds from Charlotte Co" of an indenture 3/10/1777 that names the children of Dr. John Clayton and his wife Elizabeth including Wm, Elizabeth, Ann, Thomas Lewis and Arthur Clayton.
On page 354 there is a note that on Dec 7, 1782, Elizabeth Clayton made a deed of gift to her son, Thomas Lewis Clayton.
In the will of 1810 John Wright, he made a bequest to his "grandchildren John and Betsey Lewis Clayton issue of Thomas L. Clayton and Betsy his wife". This would support that Thomas Lewis Clayton married first Elizabeth Wright, then second Dicey Wright. This is finally confirmed by a brief filed in February 27, 1843 in Bedford Co., VA Chancery Court File 500: "...The said testator (1810 John Wright) had at one time two other children namely Francis Wright and Elizabeth Clayton wife of Thomas L. Clayton, but they both died before the testator, leaving children;... The said Elizabeth Clayton, the daughter of the testator, left two children namely, Elizabeth L. who intermarried with John Wright as above stated, and John Clayton, who resides in the state of Missouri. Thomas L. Clayton, the husband of the said Elizabeth, survived her, and afterwards intermarried with her sister Dicey but is now dead..."
