Agnes Isabella Clazie was born on 27 May 1911 at Glendale, Northumberland. She was a daughter of William Clazie and Eleanor Crawford. She was usually called "Bella".

Bella is part of a one name study on this family that couldn't agree on spelling: The surname was usually written Clazie but also found as Clazey - Clazy - Clezie - Clezy - and more varieties.

Bella was a younger half-sister of Robert Clazie, who died in 1918. They had the same father but different mothers. Her name was shown as Bella on military records relating to Robert's death.

Bella died in April 1989 at Glendale, Northumberland.

Gran, Agnes was born at Crookham Westfield cottages and her siblings were born at various locations depending on which farm her father was working on at the time. She and granda, James Wilson travelled to gretna on his motorbike to get married in 1934. They lived at the Cat Inn near Berwick when my dad was young and moved to longridge (where gran worked at longridge towers hotel) after bombs were dropped from German planes during the war very close to their home. Soon after they moved they watched as bombs were dropped along the river Tweed, either trying to hit the bridge or just getting rid of them before heading out over the north sea! Memories: 1
Enter a personal reminiscence or story.
Gran loved the country even though she, granda and dad moved into a council estate on the outskirts of Berwick (1950s I think). My sister and I used to go for walks with her and granda often took us out to pick brambles. She loved following horse racing and knew some trainers and jockeys who helped her out with tips in her younger days! She owned a grey horse called Melrose as a child. They had an allotment in Berwick and kept hens, as they had done in the country. Gran also loved dogs and a spaniel I used to walk, Tweed, used to run away from home most mornings to spend the day with her after granda died. Gran and granda were married at Gretna Green, which she kept secret from us for many years! She and her brother in Australia, Jim, wrote to each other for many years till he died. This broke her heart as he never did visit as he kept promising. Dad (usually accompanied by myself and often my sister) visited every night as we lived very close. Gran was being treated for a thyroid problem when she died in Berwick hospital. Huge loss
