A. Birdell Clemens, of West Alexander, passed away in his home on Main street at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 15. He died in his 52nd year, of complications after an illness of five weeks. Mr. Clemens was a son of the late George M. and Mary Griffith Clemens, and was born near Claysville sp; He received his early education in the Independence and Donegal Township schools. He attended Summer school in Claysville and Canonsburg. He was a sucessful teaacher for a number of years in Carroll, Nottingham, South Strabane and Amwell townships. For several years he was associated with the Good Roads and Twin City Machinery Company as a salesman. In later years Mr. Clemens took up carpentry. He and his brother L.G. Clemens, have been contracting and specializing in barn building. Last fall he was elected owners; inspector of the West Alexander new high schoo; building. On June 6, 1916 Mr. Clemens was united in marriage with Golda A. Horn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Horn, of Amity Ridge, who survives with the following children: Una E, wife of Donald Sprowls, of Claysville, Edward B., G. Extell and Lloyd L students in West Alexander High School; Audrey J., Iialah D. and Myrna Phyllis, in the grade school and two grandchildren, Jean and Marlene Sprowls. Besides the one brother L.G. Clemens, Washington RD 4, there are five sisters, Grace, wife James E. Elliott near Laboratory, Lenora, wife of Ernest Ross, of Wheeling, Zoetta, wife of Glenn Pees, Washington RD2, Wilda, wife of Alva Mulhollen, Wellsburg and Beulah, wife of R.O. Black, Wolfdale. One sister, Myrtle, wife of Andrew Condit, of Amity is deceased. Funeral services will be held at his late home Thursday Jan 27, at 1:30 p.m. in charge of the Rev. H. Newton Miller, pastor of the Lone Pine Christian Church, assisted by the Rev G. Karl Monroe of West Alexander. Burial will be in the Lone Pine Cemetery.
