Rodney Dewitt Clifton was born on September 8, 1948, in Rusk County, Texas, United States, son of Talmadge Dewitt Clifton (1926–1984) and Billie Louise Brooks (1930–2008).[1] In the 1950 census Rodney (age 1) was the son of Talmage Clifton in Rusk, Texas, United States.[2] He graduated from Henderson High School in 1967 and continued to Texas A&M. Postponing his studies, Rodney joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country from 1969 to 1972.
Rodney (22) married Brenda Jean Copeland (21) (born on August 9, 1949, in Jefferson, Marion, Texas, United States; daughter of George D Copeland and Cleatus Imogene (Fagg) Copeland) on in Koolaupoko, Honolulu, Hawaii where he was stationed; they were married for 52 years. The couple eventually settled in Minden, Texas, where he grew up, and raised their family there. [3] Their children were:
Rodney worked as an operations systems technician for Eastman in Longview, Texas, for 41 years. He enjoyed gardening and reading. Rodney also actively served his church as a deacon at Minden Baptist Church since 1988. Additionally, he served as the sexton for the Zion Hill Cemetery for many years.
Rodney died September 18, 2023, in Tyler, Smith, Texas, aged 75.
