Biography

Gertrude was born 27 Feb 1879 in Illinois. She was the daughter of Simon Clifton and Susan Johnson. ^[1]

In 1880 she was living in Washington, Page, Iowa.^[2] The household included Simon S Clifton age 30, wife Susan L Clifton age 26, daughter Daisy Clifton age 1 and sister-in-law Jennie Johnson age 27, all born in Illinois. Simon was a farmer. Jennie was a school teacher. Samuel Halstead and his wife Sarah (Simon's twin sister) lived next door.

In 1885 she was living in Highland, Gage, Nebraska.^[3] The household included Simon Clifton age 35, wife Susan Clifton age 30 and daughter D L Clifton age 6, all born in Illinois. Simon was a farmer.

In 1900 she was living in Precinct 2 Denver city Ward 6, Arapahoe, Colorado.^[4] The household included John L Trellue age 23 born in Missouri, wife Gertrude Trellue age 21 born in Illinois and mother-in-law Louise Freft age 46 born in Illinois. John was a laborer on the railroad. Gertrude had no children. John and Gertrude had been married less than a year. Louise was John's mother.

In 1910 she was living in San Antonio, Los Angeles, California.^[5] The household included John L Trellue age 30, wife Gertrude D Trellue age 31, father-in-law Simon S Clifton age 60, mother Susan L Clifton age 55, and boarder Carl Stroll age 7. John was born in Arkansas, Carl in California and the rest in Illinois. John was a house decorator. Gertrude had no children. John and Gertrude had been married 10 years. Simon was an expressman for an express wagon. Susan was the mother of 1 child, living. Simon and Susan had been married 36 years.

She died 19 Jun 1913 in Graham, Los Angeles, California.^[1]
