The Rev. Samuel Taylor Cobb was the son of George Cobb and Hannah Harrison. He was a Baptist minister in North Louisiana and Southern Arkansas from 1848 to 1888. On November 13, 1837 he married Melinda Clements in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. In the early 1840's they moved to Saline County, Arkansas, where he entered the Baptist ministry. They moved to Union County, Arkansas about 1847 where he began farming near Caledonia. Beginning in 1851 he was pastor of the Caledonia Baptist church and so continued for 20 years.
