  • Maternal relationship is confirmed by a triangulated group on MyHeritage using the One to Many Chromosome Browser and Triangulation tool consisting of Marie (Fortner) Keeton, and DNA results of 6th cousin JS and 6th cousin 1x removed JL, who all share a 15.9 cM segment on chromosome 18. The most-recent common ancestors shared by all three are Joseph Skidmore and Ann (Caldwell) Skidmore.

They relocated from Pendleton Co., WVA to OH, because of a land grant given to Gabriel their father, a Revolutionary war soldier. (History of Fayette Co., OH, published 1984) Joseph remained in Fayette (originally Ross Co.) until 1814, then Jacob and Joseph relocated in Marion Co., near Indianapolis, IN, but returned to Ross Co., OH, and died there. Joseph died 1826 (Kurt Coil) Estate case #013228 March 1826 Joseph's will Estate abstract in Ross Co., OH. Lists wife Sophia and sons Saul and Solomon and minor children. He was in Virginia territory 1801, it became the state of OH in 1803. Joseph owned a boat that he used to ship freight on the Scioto River.
