IMPALED ON IRON BAR

RAILWAY EMPLOYEE'S DEATH CANOWINDRA. Thursday.

An accident, which proved fatal, happened in the railway yard here today. A porter in the Traffic Department, named Albert Colbert, was engaged on a truck of chaff tightening the ropes - when he slipped and fell upright on the permanent way. The pinch bar is about five feet long, sharpened at both ends, and is used for levering trucks along the line. The unfortunate man fell on this bar, the end. of which penetrated the lower part of his body about nine inches. Medical aid was immediately summoned, but there was no hope for his recovery. He died at 1 p.m. today.[1]
